Back in March 2010, The Storch Family’s skiing trip down in Colorado Slopes went from the most amazing trip ever to the worst nightmare. Tara and Todd Storch’s daughter Taylor Storch (13) died in a tragic skiing accident on their very last day of the vacation. But Tara and Todd decided to keep their daughter alive in the only way they knew how. They agreed to let Taylor help save others through organ donation. This decision changed the lives of 5 families whose loved ones have been saved by Taylor’s organs. When Patricia Winters, from Arizona, who received Taylor’s heart, met Todd and Tara for the first time, something amazing was bound to happen. Tara finally had the chance to listen to her daughters beating heart! I was not able to hold off my tears when I saw this…

It’s just amazing isn’t it! We know that when our loved ones are gone, they are gone… there’s nothing we can do to bring them back. And yet we can still feel their presence, in every facet of our lives they live with us, within us. And Tara was perhaps one of the lucky few mothers in the whole world who got the chance to listen to her daughters heart… death wasn’t able to draw a boundary between the love that exists between a mother and her child. And nothing will ever change that.
